Community Health Centers provide an invaluable asset to communities all over the country. Besides increasing the access to care for many people who otherwise wouldn't be able to see a health care professional. By increasing access to care, CHC's are also lowering overall health care costs by avoiding emergency visits for routine problems that became much more complicated after being given time to develop. CHC's are important in increasing knowledge of and fighting the spread of sexual diseases, and they're crucial to assessing the health of a community and forming programs to address the needs of the local community. I can only hope that the preventative type medicine practiced at CHC's across the country will one day become the normal, or that funding for these centers will grow so that even smaller communities can have access to an increased number of services at the local CHC. I think CHCs play an under-appreciated but integral role in the delivery of health care to the general public.
